Volunteers have been a key part of the Walnut Creek Medical Center tradition since it opened in 1965. Our dedicated and caring volunteers provide essential support and assistance to nursing and administrative staff, as well as directly to patients. As the medical center expands the services of compassionate volunteers will enhance many new areas.

A few examples of volunteer opportunities include:
- Helping expectant and new parents in our state-of-the-art family birth center
- Assisting nursing staff with clerical and other key duties on patient floors
- Providing support to patients’ loved ones at the Critical Care and Surgery desks
- Escorting patients and visitors to their destinations
- Providing information and directions to patients and visitors
- Delivering flowers, cards, and newspapers to patients, or items from one department to another
- Providing important support to our busy emergency room/trauma center team
- Supporting ancillary patient-care departments
- Assisting in the Muir Galleria gift shop
