Birth Center Tours

Selecting where you will deliver is one of the most important decisions you can make when preparing for the birth of your child. The Birth Center at John Muir Medical Center - Walnut Creek Campus offers all the amenities, medical expertise and technology to make your birth experience a memorable one.

Our large spacious Labor and Delivery Rooms have all the comforts of home to help make you feel at ease during labor. Our oversized rooms allow plenty of space for movement, and oversized chairs that fold out into a bed are there for your partner to be with you at your side. Private, comfortable bathrooms and showers are also within reach to help ease labor pains.

As a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery, we have round-the-clock specially trained physicians and nurses on-hand to care for your newborn, should the need arise. Our 19-bed Intensive Care Unit features state-of-the-art technology and has ample space for parents to bond with their infants.

Drop-in tours are available for you to become better acquainted with the Birth Center. Tours provide a glimpse into what it is like to deliver at John Muir Medical Center - Walnut Creek Campus while respecting the privacy of those who have already delivered.

A health educator and hospital docent lead the tours and can answer any questions you may have about the Birth Center. They also provide helpful information about online pre-registration, visiting hours and after-hours procedures; all the information to make your maternity stay as pleasant as possible.

Birth Center tours are offered on one Saturday per month, and beginning October 2007, will also be offered on one Tuesday per month. Registration is not required. Please check in at the lobby desk on the first floor at the hospital. Orientation runs 15 minutes. We ask that those with a cold or flu stay at home and that siblings stay with mom and dad at all times.
