Early-stage kidney cancer usually causes no symptoms, and is generally found "incidentally," or in the course of assessing other medical complaints. The first noticeable symptom of kidney cancer is usually blood in the urine. The urine may be visibly red, but sometimes the blood is microscopic and not detectable by the naked eye.

Having one or more of these symptoms does not necessarily mean that you have kidney cancer; there are several other disorders that can cause some of the same symptoms. Your physician will arrange for the appropriate diagnostic tests to ensure that a proper diagnosis can be made and treatment can be initiated at once.
