The presence of one or more of the symptoms listed above does not necessarily mean that you have lung cancer. There are a number of common, non-malignant conditions that can cause some of the same symptoms. However, because lung cancer is very difficult to treat once it has reached an advanced stage, it is important to see your physician as soon as possible if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, particularly if you have a history of smoking. Your physician will arrange for the appropriate diagnostic tests to ensure that a proper diagnosis can be made.
