Principal Investigator

Roy A. Kaplan, M.D., F.A.C.P. (Fellow of the American College of Physicians), F.A.C.E. (Fellow of the American College of Endocriniologists)

Roy A. Kaplan, M.D., a board certified physician in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine, is the John Muir Physician Network Clinical Research Center Research Medical Director. He has participated in clinical trials since 1973 and for the past 20 years, has served as the principal investigator of more than 200 protocols in the clinical areas of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. A well-established private practice physician, Dr. Kaplan has more than 25 years of extensive experience in the specialties of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Internal Medicine. Dr. Kaplan is also a Certified Clinical Research Investigator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and Medical Director of the Center for Diabetes at John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus, an American Diabetes Associated recognized program.

Our Staff

The John Muir Physician Network Clinical Research Center contracts with experienced sub-investigators in various specialties including cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology, and several internal medicine and family practice physicians. Assistant Medical Director, Thomas Greely, M.D., a board certified Family Practice physician, has extensive clinical expertise in the treatment of AIDS and HIV-related illnesses. In addition to Dr. Greely, Dr. Anna Chang, Board Certified Endocrinologist, with over 10 years of research experience.

Research Staff

John Muir Physician Network Clinical Research Center employs seven research coordinators, five of whom are certified through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. We have two Certified Diabetes Educator, RN's and a Registered Dietician who has extensive experience in obesity management, Diabetes and Cholesterol management. Our administrative staff has over 10 years of research experience.
