The Campaign for John Muir Medical Center - Concord continues the tradition of partnering with the community to provide quality healthcare for its members by embarking on this major expansion and renovation project to meet the current and anticipated healthcare needs of the region.
NEW Patient Care Tower
- Five-story patient care building
- 172,000 square feet
- The new John Muir Cardiovascular Institute — A premier regional facility for cardiovascular services in Contra Costa County
- 12 private cardiovascular ICU beds, 49 private telemetry beds, 4 cardiac catheterization labs, 12 pre-operative/recovery beds
- An expanded Emergency Department — 32 private treatment stations, almost tripling the square footage of the current ED
- A dedicated Imaging Center in the Emergency Department with state-of-the-art CT scanner, digital X-ray and ultrasound
- 61 new private rooms with additional space for future growth
- Specially designed rooms to maximize space for technology, staff and family members

Remodeled Patient Care Areas in the existing B-Tower will update critical care and nursing units with more space and capacity for treatment and care.
John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus
The Campaign for John Muir Medical Center - Walnut Creek is the most ambitious program of physical addition and renewal since the hospital was founded in 1965, built through the fundraising partnership of local physicians, community leaders and volunteers.
The Thomas J. and Muriel T. Long Patient Care Tower
- Five-story comprehensive critical care center
- 400,000 sq. feet — Doubling the square footage of the current Medical Center
- 230 new private rooms
- 3 new inpatient surgical suites
- 16 additional Intensive Care Neonatal beds
- Larger, private critical care rooms to accommodate bedside technology
- An expanded Emergency Department - 46 private treatment stations with dedicated imaging technology within the department
- 4 large trauma treatment rooms
- A relocated rooftop helipad with a high-speed elevator directly to the Emergency Department
- Specially designed rooms to maximize space for technology, staff and family members
- New lobby, with separate public elevator and corridor system to enhance patient privacy
