$2.5 million contribution supporting expansion efforts announced
Walnut Creek, Calif. (March 21, 2006) - The John Muir Health Foundation today announced that Guy R. Henshaw has been appointed Chair of the Capital Campaign for John Muir Medical Center. Henshaw, a Walnut Creek resident, just completed his term as chair of the John Muir Health Board and is also a former chair of the John Muir Health Foundation Board. He is currently managing director of Henshaw/Vierra Management Counsel and serves on the boards of Fair, Isaac and Company, iSystems, IKEN Tissue Therapeutics and is an outside director of several other small to mid-cap companies. He has served as past board chair of Seven Hills School and Head-Royce School and was investment committee chair at Ripon College and Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
"I can't think of anyone more qualified to chair this campaign than Guy Henshaw." said Milt Smith, president of the John Muir Health Foundation. "He's been a volunteer leader at John Muir for over 15 years, which demonstrates his continued support and confidence in our organization, and his tremendous achievements in business reflect his commitment to making sure that something he's involved with is successful. We are honored to have Guy in the lead role of our capital campaign. "
In his capacity as Campaign Chair, Mr. Henshaw has made the following appointments:
John Muir Health Foundation also announced it has received a planned gift of $2.5 million to the Campaign from Rossmoor resident Theresa M. Caygill who with her late husband Wayne, a well-known East Bay ophthalmologist, has been a loyal donor to John Muir Medical Center. As a result of this generous gift, a highlight of the new facility will be the Theresa M. Caygill Trauma/Emergency Services Department.
The John Muir Health Foundation raises funds for new technology and clinical programs for the John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus. The Foundation is in the early phases of a capital fund-raising campaign to meet the community need for more emergency treatment rooms, more operating rooms, and more patient beds throughout the medical center. The Future of Great Medicine campaign supports the $460 million expansion plan with a projected completion date of 2011. To date, the campaign has raised more than $20 million.
