Car Seat Checks
Since its establishment in 1998, John Muir Medical Center has served as the lead agency in the Contra Costa Child Safety Seat Coalition which seeks to reduce injury, disability and death to children in motor vehicle crashes by increasing the use of child restraint systems and decreasing misuse.
Nearly 2,000 car seats are checked annually by nationally certified child passenger technicians at drive-thru car seat clinics and designated car seat fitting stations. Car seats are checked at the Women's Health Center and Brentwood Outpatient Center.

In addition to providing the equipment to the clinics and stations, JMH also provides approximately 150 low income families the chance to have their car seats checked, per year.
