Brentwood Outpatient Center Marks Third Year

The John Muir Outpatient Center and staff of Brentwood are heading into their third year of bringing high-quality outpatient health care services to the community.

The center has grown tremendously since its June, 2003 groundbreaking, and is now offering some of the most technologically advanced services in Contra Costa County.

Services at the Brentwood Center include:

• Advanced digital imaging services, including X-ray, ultra-sound, nuclear medicine, bone density, fluoroscopy, CT scan, MRI, EKG and digital mammography. A DEXA Scan machine, (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) that helps screen and detect osteoporosis and bone mineral density was recently added to the Brentwood center.
• Family practice and pediatrics through the John Muir Medical Group.
• A full range of laboratory services through MuirLab.
• Extended-hour medical care for urgent but not life-threatening emergencies through John Muir Urgent Care.
• Cardiac conditioning for those recovering from heart surgery, heart attack or other cardiac problems.
• Diabetes exercise program.
• Pulmonary rehabilitation for those with chronic lung disease and their families.
• Outpatient Surgery Center.
• Comprehensive assessments, resource information, support and education programs through Senior Services.
• Prenatal education, support groups, "Babies in Brentwood" and breast feeding support and rentals through the Women's Health Center.
• Nurse educator providing screening information and resource information about breast cancer through Breast Health Services.
• Outpatient registration.
• Occupational Medicine services (available soon).
• More than two dozen independent physicians on site.

The 110,000-square-foot facility opened in May of 2005 and has become a valuable member of the Brentwood community. John Muir Outpatient Center, Brentwood is again a sponsor of CornFest, and recently hosted a community health fair for families. More than 500 attended the fair, which brought out community members and local business leaders. Organizers hope to make the fair an annual event.
