Muir Health Festival

Physicians, doctors and top health-care experts from the John Muir Medical Center staff will provide half-hour educational forums on a variety of medical topics free to the public at a Health Festival on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John Muir Outpatient Center, 2400 Balfour Road in Brentwood.

In addition to the forums, the event features health screenings on cholesterol and prostate, a PSA test, plus glucose and memory testing (by appointment only).

Free walk-in activities without an appointment include a blood-pressure check, balance timing, body mass index, grip tests and body fat composition. To schedule a test or screening appointment at the festival, call 925-941-7900, option 3.

Other fun activities include golf swing analysis, Zamba dance moves, chair massages and yoga stretches.

"This is not your typical health fair," said Jacqueline Hanel, administrator of the Brentwood Outpatient Center. "We have something for everyone, with over 80 exhibits, including kids' activities such as Doodles the Clown, an inflatable obstacle course, and car-seat and backpack checks."

John Muir Women's Health Center will be present at the Health Festival, providing mommy mentor programs, prenatal and lactation information, nutritional and weight management, and a pregnancy concierge.

The Health Festival is a partnership between John Muir Health, Longs Pharmacy and Eskaton Senior Residences and Services.
