John Muir Health is a premier provider of hospital inpatient and outpatient services. In addition to our hospital emergency rooms, there are also urgent care centers in many locations.

The time to plan for emergencies is BEFORE they happen. According to a recent survey conducted by the American College of Emergency Physicians, only one out of five families with children say they have discussed with their regular doctor what to do in a medical emergency. Even less say they feel prepared to handle the emergency.

Learning how to recognize and respond to an emergency is very important — more important is learning how to prevent accidents.

Take the time to:

Talk to your pediatrician or family physician about accident prevention and emergency care.
Take courses in infant/child safety and CPR
Correctly install and use a Car Seat as recommended.
