Services

John Muir Health Department of Pharmacy provides patient-focused pharmacy care to patients and health care providers throughout the Health Care system. In addition to preparation and distribution of medications for inpatient use, we provide professional consultations for clinicians, patients and their families, monitoring of key laboratory levels and adjustment of medication, and parenteral nutrition. With an eye toward patient safety, the Department uses the latest automated technologies to screen orders for duplication and allergies, automate distribution of medications, and control inventory.

Career Opportunities

Our goal is to be a great place to work. We seek and value employees who have the ability to learn quickly and collaborate, value innovation and change, and possess excellent skills and training. Over 90% of our pharmacists have a Pharm. D degree and over 50% have completed a residency. We encourage our pharmacists to participate in professional organizations, publish their findings and experiences, and participate in professional meetings. In 2003, we began offering a fourth year rotation for students of pharmacy from UCSF and UOP.
