John Muir Health has made quality patient care and patient safety a top priority. Both John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus and John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus have established programs that strive to continually improve the quality and safety of care we provide. Because we view patients, family members of patients and the community as our partners in the health care we provide, we invite you to view our performance compared to other hospitals on a state and national basis. These measures help to determine whether the care provided is safe, timely, helpful and patient centered. We use this data to design improvement programs and compare our performance against regional and national benchmarks. Provided for your information are summaries of the initiatives, and links to their websites, so you can examine for yourself our quality indicators.

National Hospital Voluntary Reporting Initiative

Over 4,000 U. S. acute care hospitals reported on quality of care and patient experiences in the "National Hospital Voluntary Reporting Initiative" sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus and John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus were proud to participate. This initiative had two phases:

  1. Quality measures of hospitals derived from clinical data. The full report can be found at: Hospital Quality Initiative.

  2. Information on patient perspectives on their hospital care. The California Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with the California Institute for John Muir Health Performance, sponsored this California Hospital Experience Survey. The full report can be found at: www.calhospitals.org.

Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA): Improving Care through Information
