Comprehensive and flexible inpatient psychiatric services addressing needs of adult patients are provided in the least restrictive environment possible. Intensive day treatment program is provided for adults in need of crisis intervention, short-term stabilization, or those transitioning from inpatient care to home.

As a leading provider of cancer care, John Muir Health provides technologically advanced screening and diagnostic tools, treatment capabilities, and a cancer care team dedicated to individualized care and support. Services are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis, depending on the needs of the individual. A wide range of cancer-related public services that promote awareness regarding prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer are also available.

Cardiac Conditioning

Medically supervised cardiac conditioning programs are offered to improve cardiovascular fitness and awareness in individuals who have heart or blood vessel disease and to help those who are at high risk of developing circulatory disease. Physician referral required.

Designed for individuals, families and caregivers of those who have been treated for or are at risk for coronary artery disease or heart failure. Topics include coronary artery disease, treatment, and risk factor modification, general information about heart failure, medications, nutrition, exercise, and support.

Caring Hands Volunteer Program

Assistance, support, respite and referrals are provided to frail, isolated seniors ages 60 and over by matching those in need with screened and trained volunteers for long-term social support, Thereby enabling seniors to maintain independence in their own homes as long as safely possible.

Diabetes Care and Management

Education is provided to help those with diabetes better manage their disease at Diabetes Centers on both campuses. Programs help individuals learn about diet, oral medication or insulin, glucose monitoring and other management approaches. Diabetes exercise program develops individual exercise plans under guidance of exercise physiologist.

Homemaker Services

Reliable, compassionate and quality non-medical in-home care provided in central and east Contra Costa County to enhance the quality of life and independence of adults at home. Services available in hourly, sleep-over, and 24 hour live-in shifts at compatible rates. Minimum of two hours, no deposit required.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Treatment in a controlled-pressure chamber of 100 percent oxygen to enhance healing of non-healing wounds, crush injuries, acute thermal burns and cerebral edema.

Osteoporosis Screening

Advanced bone densitometry screenings available to determine bone density and need for preventive treatment. Osteoporosis Center provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Resource center with educational materials is available.

Support Groups

Support groups for the following medical conditions are provided: A.L.S. (Lou Gehrigs Disease), asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, leukemia/lymphoma/multiple myeloma, lymphedema, liver disease, sleep apnea and stroke. Other support groups include: mental illness family and caregiver support, and grief support.

Offers a variety of programs devoted to the needs of women including educational classes, mammography and osteoporosis screening, resource center, and the Wig Source for cancer patients. Menopause programs and support include a menopause education consultation.

Wound Care Center

Offers technologically advanced care for chronic wounds that dont respond to traditional medical treatment. Registered nurses provide foot screenings, using a monofilament, to test for loss of protective sensations.
