In addition to chest pain, when a woman has a heart attack her symptoms may be vague and quite different from men's. They can include chest discomfort/pressure/burning, pain spreading to the shoulders/neck/jaw/arm/back, abdominal pain, nausea, unexplained shortness of breath or sweating, and profound fatigue. If you have these symptoms, call 911 or go to the Emergency Room.
The John Muir Women's Heart Program is designed to help women identify their risk, receive valuable information about heart disease, and if necessary, get a referral for further tests and treatment from either their personal physician or a cardiologist. For more information about our program, hours of service, fees or to make an appointment, call (925) 941-7965 or make an appointment online.
