The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County: Clinic Care Coordinator for RotaCare Bay Area, Pittsburg Free Medical Clinic

Community clinics play an irreplaceable role in meeting the health care needs of medically uninsured adults in underserved communities. Like any business, however, community clinics require a skilled manager to optimize care services and keep the organization economically sound. Limited resources can sometimes make it difficult for community clinics to afford such a manager.

To help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County (SVDP) sustain and grow its RotaCare Pittsburg Free Medical Clinic services, the John Muir/Mt. Diablo Community Health Funds has awarded the organization a one-year, $43,750 program support grant that enables SVDP to hire an experienced nurse half-time to serve as the clinic care coordinator. A fundraising committee will implement SVDP's plan for developing a revenue stream that will maintain the position when the CHF's support concludes at the end of 2015.
