With Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia becoming a growing affliction of our aging population, John Muir Health offers a broad array of services and treatment options that not only benefit the patient, but also help the caregiver.

50% of those 85 and over suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.A Concerted Effort to Manage Dementia

While John Muir Health has years of experience treating dementia with the most advanced medications (there is no “cure” for Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia), what distinguishes our approach to treatment is the comprehensive support and services we provide through Senior Services to ensure the needs of our patients and their caregivers are met once they leave the hospital.

Diagnosing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is crucial to providing the most effective treatment options. Our extensive experience in diagnosing and treating cognitive disorders ensures your loved ones receive an accurate diagnosis and proper care.

We are also very aggressive in our treatment of Mild Cognitive Disorder (MCI), which is often a pre-cursor for Alzheimer’s. Our goal is to keep the brain functioning for as long as possible.

Through Senior Services, John Muir Health conducts several outreach programs and screenings to educate our elderly community on ways to keep the brain healthy and to help them distinguish between normal age-related memory loss and a potentially more serious neurological condition.
