Choosing a Prenatal Care Provider
Whether you choose an OB/GYN or a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) depends on many factors, including what kind of experience you want, whether your pregnancy is routine or high risk, and what your insurance will pay for. A doctor, a midwife, or both can provide prenatal care and deliver your baby.
If you have a medical condition such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or serious complications from a previous pregnancy, you’ll likely want to see an OB/GYN.
If you're looking for a provider who is more likely to take a holistic approach to your care for a routine pregnancy and vaginal delivery, including VBAC, then you may want to consider one of our certified midwives (CNMs).
