Radiation Oncologist
A Radiation Oncologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the administration and use of radiation for the care and comfort of their patients. The American Board of Radiology certifies our Radiation Oncologists as having expertise in evaluating and treating patients with cancer and benign conditions. The Radiation Oncologist will closely monitor and assess the patient's progress throughout the entire course of treatment.
Department Manager
The manager oversees all the staff and operations of the department. The manager has many years of clinical experience in addition to extensive training in management. Besides responsibility for the general budgets, the manager works closely with the physicians and physicists to bring the most current equipment and technology to our center. The most important responsibility, however, is making sure that you get the best possible care.
Nurse
The nurse educates each patient and family about their treatments, and has specialized training in the care of cancer patients. Once the patient has their simulation and CT, they are scheduled to see the Oncology Nurse. Questions often come up after the patient has seen the doctor that the nurse can then answer. The nurse is also involved in monitoring the patient's care during the treatment course and is always available for ongoing support.
Physicist
Medical Physicists are personnel who specialize in physics, which are specifically applied in the field of medical radiation. The physicist ensures the equipment is monitored and verifies the accuracy of your treatment. Physicists usually have a Master's degree in Medical Physics and our Chief Physicist has a Ph.D in Medical Physics.
Dosimetrist
The planning of a patient's treatment is important and our dosimetrists design your treatment plan. They also perform complex calculations which determine the length of your treatment. They receive specialized trained in medical dosimetry. Most dosimetrists also have several years of clinical experience as therapists.
Chief Therapist / Technical Coordinator
The chief therapist is responsible for all the therapists and has many years of clinical experience. She co-ordinates all operations involved in your treatment delivery including ensuring the equipment is regularly serviced, that there is the right amount of staff to give you your treatments, to the quality checks done on your chart and treatment.
Therapists
A Radiation Therapist administers the planned treatment to the patient on a daily basis. They are trained to operate very sophisticated treatment machines and to deliver the best care possible.
Technical Assistant
Assistants are personnel who work alongside the therapists with your daily setups. This also includes the production of custom shielding, which are used within the treatment machine to 'shape' the beam of radiation.
Front Office Staff
Our front office staff assists with scheduling your initial appointments, getting your initial information for your first visit and greet you when you come in each day.
