John Muir Health is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive health care to the communities of Contra Costa County and the greater San Francisco Bay area with two premier facilities. John Muir Medical Center in Concord is a 259-bed acute care facility, recognized as a preeminent center for cancer and cardiac care, including open-heart surgery and interventional cardiology. Other specialty areas are general surgery, orthopedic and neurology programs. The 321-bed Walnut Creek campus is the only Level II Trauma Center in the area, and is renowned for high- and low-risk obstetrics, orthopedics, neuroscience, cardiac and cancer care.

Dynamic environment.

At our state-of-the-art pharmacies, we document more than 5,000 interventions a year, yet we have the best pharmacist/prescription volume ratios in Northern California. Our pharmacists are involved in almost every facet of health care...clinical rounds, intensive care and oncology satellites, development/implementation of critical care protocols, and teaching cardiac and pulmonary rehab classes.

State-of-the-art innovations.

In keeping up with our clinical programs, our technology is constantly upgraded with pharmacy automation such as Pyxis medstations and scanning technology, bedside medication verification and bar-coding, robotic drug distribution and advanced pharmacy information systems year.

New Grads

John Muir Medical Centers in Concord and Walnut Creek provide clinical rotations for 3rd and 4th year students from UOP, UCSF and USC.

• A Student Loan Forgiveness Program provides additional support and incentives to new hires that have just completed an advanced education program. After successfully completing one year of full- and/or part-time employment, you are eligible to participate. The award is up to $25,000 a year, with a maximum benefit of $100,000 for a 6+ year Pharm.D., and you can access the program for up to five years.
