John Muir Health has partnered with Samuel Merritt College's nursing program to create a Nursing Student Scholar Work Study program. This collaborative arrangement allows nursing students to get real experience on nursing units while they are in school, while receiving premium pay and benefits.
We know that it is challenging in today's environment to enter a full-time educational program, to work and to manage personal obligations. Employees who meet tenure and service requirements can apply to enter the Work Study Program and if they are selected to participate they will receive release time from work while maintaining their current rate of pay and benefits.
Positions are available for employees who wish to attend an RN-BSN Program, Medical Imaging Program, Clinical Laboratory Science Program or Repiratory Therapy Program.
For employees who wish to become a nurse we offer an RN or BSN option.
For Medical Imaging Professionals who wish to work in multiple modalities, we offer the opportunity to obtain and additional certificate in Radiation Therapy, Sonography or Nuclear Medicine. We also offer an in-house Dosemitry training program.
John Muir Health supports its employees in pursuing advanced healthcare careers. That's why we awarded five scholarships of $5,000 each in 2004 to employees who were pursuing nursing degrees.
In 2005, we will be awarding more scholarships for employee undergraduate studies in diagnostic imaging, nursing, respiratory therapy, clinical lab science, master's degree studies in nursing, physical therapy, healthcare or business administration, and doctorate of pharmacy (Pharm D) or physical therapy studies. Our 5-month RN Residency Program is the only one of its kind in Contra Costa County - offers a highly focused and personalized learning experience. You'll be provided with the knowledge, tools and support you need to ease the transition from graduate student to nurse - and start your career off on the right foot.
We believe in advancing nurses in their careers from within, wherever possible. To that end, we have specialty nurse training programs in critical care, OR, Emergency and L&D.
Are you a motivated high school student, entering your junior or senior year as of the summer, who is interested in finding a summer job that helps you explore career opportunities in healthcare? Each summer we hire students at least 16 years of age who want real life experience working in a medical setting as they explore a career in health care.
