"I was initially interested in John Muir Health because I wanted to live in the Walnut Creek area. I was pleased to find that they are a leading Trauma Center, and looked forward to the diversity and complexity of patients that they would provide. From the beginning my supervisor and the rest of the staff were very supportive of me as a new grad. The orientation process was not rushed and progressed at a speed I was comfortable with. I can always count on the Rehab staff for feedback or new ideas concerning my treatment plans. John Muir is a great place to work because of the staff and the great benefits it offers for new grads."

We were recently awarded the first Samuel Merritt College Excellence in Physical Therapy Clinical Education Award that salutes all John Muir Health campuses and outpatient rehabilitation centers in Walnut Creek, Brentwood, Concord, Danville and Rossmoor. It recognizes commitment to the range of clinical education experiences, dedication to excellence in clinical teaching, and support for the development of Physical Therapists.
You'll be inspired by the caliber of our specialists with advanced credentials in areas such as Manual Therapy, NDT, PNF, Pilates certification and Feldenkrais training. Our Hand Therapy clinics are staffed with CHTs. We're dedicated to supporting the development of Physical Therapists, because they are our ambassadors.
New graduates play an integral role in rehabilitation services. They can obtain experience in acute care for three months, then work in the inpatient rehab unit, and follow up by practicing in one of our five outpatient therapy centers. Guided by experienced therapists we bring people into our health system team, help them find their niche and work with them to further their careers.
We focus on your professional advancement with the John Muir Scholarship Award Program where tenured employees continue work-related education; a Work Study Program to pursue a DPT, MBA or Master's in Health Care Administration; Annual Tuition Reimbursement, and a Student Loan Forgiveness Program that provides additional support and incentives to new hires that have just completed an advanced education program. After successfully completing one year of full- and/or part-time employment, you are eligible to participate. The award is up to $15,000 a year, with a maximum benefit of $30,000, and you can access the program for up to four years.
