Clinical Research at John Muir Health

John Muir Clinical Research Center enables our community to have access to the most current treatment options by supporting clinical research. We participate in national cooperative group research studies working together with experts throughout the United States. We also participate in various pharmaceutical and industry sponsored clinical trials. We have research studies available for a wide variety of medical conditions. Early Lung Cancer Detection Screening Study

The goal of this study is to determine whether low-dose chest CT scan is effective in detecting lung cancer at an early stage and if so, whether early detection can improve the long-term survival of patients. To be eligible to participate in the study:

  • You must be between the ages of 45-80
  • Be healthy enough to tolerate a surgical treatment if early lung cancer is found
  • You must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be a current or former smoker with a minimum of a 10 pack year smoking history OR
  • Have a primary relative with lung cancer OR
  • Have been exposed to radon gas or asbestos
  • Have a responsible primary physician
