CALGB 70305: A randomized study to prevent Lymphedema in women treated for breast cancer
NSABP B-42: A clinical trial to determine the efficacy of five years of Letrozole compared to placebo in patients completing five years of hormonal therapy consisting of an aromastase inhibitor (AI) or Tamoxifen followed by an AI in prolonged disease-free survival in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor positive breast cancer.
Initial Results of the Study of Tamoxifen and Raloxifene (STAR) Released: Osteoporosis Drug Raloxifene Shown to be as Effective as Tamoxifen in Preventing Invasive Breast Cancer.
In STAR, both drugs reduced the risk of developing invasive breast cancer by about 50 percent. In addition, within the study, women who were prospectively and randomly assigned to take raloxifene daily, and who were followed for an average of about four years, had 36 percent fewer uterine cancers and 29 percent fewer blood clots than the women who were assigned to take tamoxifen. For you convenience, links to related information regarding Clinical Trials and Research:
