The John Muir Physician Network is committed to partnering with our physicians and health plans in facilitating quality health care services to our members. The John Muir Physician Network monitors and evaluates a broad range of services in a variety of settings. Quality improvement programs are implemented with the goal of delivering high satisfaction and value to our patients and providers.
For its ongoing participation in a number of statewide quality improvement initiatives, the John Muir Physician Network has received recognition as one of the top ten Northern California physician organizations in clinical quality, patient experience, and IT investment. Results from participation in the statewide 2007 Patient Satisfaction Survey, measuring patient satisfaction, indicate high satisfaction with access to care and physician/patient communication. John Muir Physician Network Quality Improvement staff continue active participation and leadership in various statewide quality improvement programs, facilitated by health care cooperatives that include local employer groups, health plans and provider organizations.
Internal quality improvement initiatives include quality outcomes studies, participation in patient health education and improvement programs including staff education programs focused on improving patients' satisfaction with the experience of care, chronic care reporting systems for physician support, patient education programs, provider and member satisfaction surveys and others.

The NCQA P4P Audit Review includes all P4P clinical measures. John Muir Health has undergone an audit. The following performance measures, Patient Satisfaction, Diabetes Care for Control of LDL, Heart Disease Care and Breast Cancer Screening, were deemed reportable according to the NCQA P4P Audit Review standards.
Since 2003, the John Muir Physician Network and its physicians participate with the Integrated Healthcare Association and seven health plans in a statewide quality improvement program. This important program recognized and reported superior performance in key areas of quality patient care. The John Muir Physician Network was publicly recognized for its superior performance. The John Muir Physician Network is committed to ongoing improvement in the delivery of preventive and chronic health care services. Because of this commitment, the John Muir Physician Network continually assesses and pursues participation in publicly reported statewide and national quality improvement programs. Through our partnership with our physician members, the John Muir Physician Network equips physicians with tools to assist in the excellent care provided to their patients. These tools include innovative care support methods such as reminder reports for patients needing preventive or chronic care testing, treatment guidelines, patient education materials and nurse case management services.
Patient satisfaction with the care experience is assessed during the year, and physicians receive feedback reports to aid in improvement efforts.
