John Muir Physician Network Clinical Research Center successfully performs Phase 3 and 4, FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved trials with new and previously approved medications and devices. The clinical trials cover a broad spectrum of areas and have included studies of diabetes and its complications, irritable bowel syndrome, osteoporosis, obesity, anemia, high cholesterol, gout, weight loss, and depression.

Volunteering to be in a clinical trial is one way to become familiar with, and have access to, a new drug or therapy before it is available on the open market. Volunteering also assists in advancements in understanding of the condition being treated. Extensive explanation of the benefits, risks, and alternatives of participating in the study (called an informed consent document) is given to all participants, and communication with the patient's physician is a critical part of this process.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Treatment is provided in a controlled-pressure chamber of 100% oxygen to enhance
healing of non-healing wounds, crush injuries, acute thermal burns, and cerebral
edema.
Offered at John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus.

John Muir Wound Care Center
The John Muir Wound Care Center offers technologically advanced care to individuals who have chronic wounds which don't respond to traditional medical treatment. Specialized wound care treatment is provided by highly qualified physicians and nurses with expertise in the treatment of individuals with chronic wounds.

Respiratory Services/Asthma
John Muir Health is committed to improving the quality of life of individuals suffering from respiratory conditions, such as pulmonary disease and asthma. The goal of programs offered through John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus and John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus is to help patients maintain the highest functional capacity at home and work. Community health offerings include a range of outpatient rehabilitation and support programs.

Myriad services are provided at both medical centers, including pulmonary
exercise testing and pulmonary function studies.
