While nearly two-thirds of the hospitals in California lost money providing patient care last year, we were able to show an operating margin. We continue our efforts to ensure the financial viability and ongoing growth of John Muir Health to meet the expanding needs of the greater East Bay.

John Muir Health, like other healthcare delivery systems faces numerous challenges, including decreases in federal and state payments; increases in heavy regulatory burdens; workforce shortages; increases in technology and pharmaceutical costs; unfunded government mandates; and a growing number of uninsured and underinsured patients. Our record of financial and operational performance shows that we are responding to these challenges and are continuing to provide our communities with the latest advances in medicine and technology.

With a strong financial base, we will continue to remain a local, independent and leading northern California healthcare delivery system for many years to come.
