Patient Experience: Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAPHS)

Our patients told us that we met or exceeded their expectations in each of the areas of care surveyed. Data regarding our scores on these key aspects of patient experience - known to influence clinical outcomes - will be used by our board of directors, staff, physicians and volunteers to further enhance patient care. We take pride in our many achievements and honors related to the care we provide to our patients. For more information about the survey results, visit the California HealthCare Foundation website.

The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAPHS) was developed by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services to standardize survey instruments and data collection for measuring and publicly reporting patients' perspectives on hospital care.

The survey is administered by mail from our third party vendor. Patients receive the survey along with a letter from Jane Willemsen or Tom Harlan, encouraging them to complete and return it. Patients are given a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the survey to the third-party vendor. Once they receive the survey, the vendor aggregates, analyzes and prepares a quarterly report, which is sent to us.
