Rehabilitation Services Classes

Balance Improvement Class

Location: John Muir Physical Rehabilitation, Walnut Creek
Date: Tuesdays and Fridays

This class is for patients with mild balance impairments who want to continue exercising under the supervision of skilled therapists. Caretakers may need to be present if participants need assistance getting on or off equipment. Participants must meet the following criteria: Medical release signed by an M.D., stable vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiration), six months or more after date of stroke (post cerebral vascular accident (stroke), completed treatment in a one-on-one therapy program.

Behind-the-wheel assessment and training is offered for individuals with physical, visual, perceptual and cognitive deficits.

Basic Pilates Mat Class

Location: John Muir Physical Rehabilitation, Walnut Creek

Time: 5:45-6:45 p.m.

Class is for former physical therapy patients for safely guiding patients toward rehabilitating an injury and transition into community classes. Taught by Pilates-certified physical therapists. Physician referral required.

Biofeedback

Treatment using computer monitoring of muscle tension, skin temperature and other physical signs to retrain movement patterns and decrease pain from repetitive strain and associated injuries. Biofeedback can also be used to treat chronic or migraine headaches, not associated with other disease processes

Our hand therapy team is led by highly skilled certified hand therapists (CHT). Individualized, comprehensive upper extremity treatment is available for repetitive strain injuries, trauma, industrial injuries and general hand injuries and conditions. Offered at all sites. Swallowing Therapy
