Professional Development

JMH values lifelong learning for all employees. Our nurses are provided numerous opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally in a supportive environment. Some professional development opportunities for JMH nurses include:

  • Tuition Reimbursement and Schedule Flexibility: Tuition reimbursement and schedule flexibility are available for nurses enrolled in academic courses
  • Certification Stipend: This annual stipend is awarded for continued certification in a nursing specialty
  • Life Safety Education: JMH nurses receive free life safety education (BLS, ACLS, NRP, etc.) that is required for their job performance
  • Paid Education Leave: Benefitted JMH nurses are eligible to receive paid education leave
  • Nursing Education Funds for Learning Opportunities: These funds are earmarked by donors to be used for nursing professional development opportunities and conference attendance
  • Specialty Training: JMH nurses are offered a variety of training opportunities to expand their specialty knowledge and expertise
  • Preceptor training and Preceptor Pay: JMH nurses can develop their skills as a preceptor to support nursing students, RN residents and new hired experienced nurses.
  • Professional Educational Series: JMH nurses are able to attend free, day-long, events and receive CE’s while learning about timely topics in nursing and healthcare
  • Job Shadow Program: JMH nurses have the opportunity to use their education hours to shadow a nurse in another department or in another role to help experience new opportunities for career development
  • Certification Review Support and Free Continuing Education Opportunities: JMH nurses have free access to online certification preparatory classes and to hundreds of continuing education courses
