The right environment to truly make a difference.

Two Great Hospitals

John Muir Health provides comprehensive health care to the communities of Contra Costa County and the greater San Francisco Bay area through two premier facilities. Our Concord campus is a 259-bed acute care facility, recognized as a preeminent center for cancer and cardiac care, including open-heart surgery and interventional cardiology. Other specialty areas are general surgery, orthopedic and neurology programs. Our 321-bed Walnut Creek campus is the only Level II Trauma Center in the area, and is renowned for high- and low-risk obstetrics, orthopedics, neuroscience, cardiac and cancer care.

Pharmacy Careers at John Muir Health

A Dynamic Environment
At our state-of-the-art pharmacies, clinical decision support is placed at the pharmacist's fingertips. John Muir Health pharmacists document more than 10,000 interventions a year, yet we have the best pharmacist/order volume ratios in Northern California. Our pharmacists are involved in almost every facet of health care, including clinical rounds, intensive care and oncology satellites, anticoagulation monitoring, development and implementation of critical care protocols, and teaching cardiac and pulmonary rehab classes. Our pharmacies also provide clinical and retail rotations for students from several Pharm.D. programs throughout the state.

State-of-the-Art Innovations
In keeping up with our clinical programs, our technology is constantly upgraded. We feature a closed loop medication model, including the use of a comprehensive decision support order entry system, robotic automation for drug distribution, Pyxis Medication cabinets, bedside medication verification and bar-coding, the Vigilanz Adverse Event Monitoring system, and advanced pharmacy information systems.

Exciting Developments
For example, our Walnut Creek Campus is finishing a whole new pharmacy that will feature the absolute latest in automated drug distribution technology. Our Concord Campus has also begun planning the construction of a new state of the art IV room to be completed in 2011.

New Grads
John Muir Medical Centers in Concord and Walnut Creek provide clinical rotations for 3rd and 4th year students from UOP, UCSF and USC. As you progress in your career, you can learn and grow with us through annual tuition reimbursement, continuing education, educational leave and professional development seminars. You will also benefit from our pharmacy management who enthusiastically offer their time for mentoring and job shadowing.

We seek and value pharmacists who have the ability to learn quickly, value innovation and change, and possess well-trained skills.
