We have a remarkably strong Adult Hospital Medicine rotation at a nationally recognized hospital, Concord Medical Center. Our residents work 1:1 or 1:2 with highly skilled full-time Hospitalists who self-selected to become our inaugural Hospitalist Teaching Faculty. Residents see a wide array of common inpatient cases from a diverse population including Medicare, commercial coverage, and Managed Medicaid (Contra Costa Health Plan). Specialists provide seamless consultation support across all payers in the hospital. Residents are prepared to care for patients with acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, community-acquired pneumonia, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and many other important acute and chronic illnesses. Our high Faculty to Resident ratio allows for great focused attention by hands-on attendings to provide you a deeper and more thorough ability to care for acutely deteriorating patients. Residents receive a full six (6) months of training in Adult Hospital medicine over the three (3) years, with three (3) months in the first year.
