John Muir Health includes two of the largest medical centers in Contra Costa County: John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek, a 554-licensed bed medical center that serves as Contra Costa County's only designated trauma center; and John Muir Medical Center, Concord, a 245-licensed bed medical center in Concord. Together, they are recognized as preeminent centers for neurosciences, orthopedics, cancer care, cardiovascular care and high-risk obstetrics.
John Muir Physician NetworkThe John Muir Physician Network is a not-for-profit medical foundation. The 900 physicians associated with the John Muir Physician Network belong to either the John Muir Medical Group or the Muir Medical Group Independent Practice Association (IPA). These physicians accept all HMO and most PPO insurance plans, as well as Medicare. The John Muir Physician Network owns and operates 24 locations throughout Contra Costa and parts of Alameda County staffed by the John Muir Medical Group. The Muir Medical Group IPA is a panel of primary care physicians and specialists with offices throughout Contra Costa and parts of southern Solano and southern Alameda counties.
John Muir Medical GroupThe John Muir Medical Group is a group of over 100 primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. It is composed of pediatricians, family practitioners, and internal medicine physicians providing primary care services to John Muir Health patients. This group is the exclusive provider of urgent care services for John Muir Health and, in conjunction with the John Muir Physician Network, operates four conveniently located urgent care centers in Contra Costa County.
Muir Medical Group, IPA, Inc.Muir Medical Group IPA, Inc. (Independent Practice Association) is a group of over 200 independent primary care and over 600 specialists who have joined together to provide medical services to John Muir Health patients. Most physicians who participate in the IPA provide services at our medical centers. John Muir Health Medicare ACO John Muir Health is participating in Medicare’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program. Our participation is one way we’re working to improve coordinated care for our Medicare Fee-for-Service patients. We believe in doing what is best for our patients to provide a quality patient experience, help them improve coordination of their health and avoid unnecessary hospitalizations. Through participation in an ACO, groups of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers, coordinate high quality care to our patients at the right time and in the right setting.
