John Muir Health & UCSF Medical Center Announce New Liver Transplant Outpatient Clinic In Walnut Creek


Walnut Creek, Calif. (June 10, 2015) – John Muir Health and UCSF Medical Center have collaborated to bring a new Liver Transplant Outpatient Clinic to the East Bay. The Clinic allows patients who are waiting for transplants, or who have recently received transplants, at UCSF Medical Center, which is nationally recognized for the quality of its program, to receive clinical services such as blood testing and monitoring at the new location in Walnut Creek. By working more closely together, this is one way John Muir Health and UCSF Medical Center are offering more convenient access to care for patients in Northern California.

Dr. Francis Yao, a top UCSF transplant hepatologist, began seeing patients last month. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling (415) 353-2156 or by stopping into John Muir Health's Walnut Creek Outpatient Center during clinic hours.

When: One day/month -- June 22, July 22, August 25, September 22, October 27 & November 24.

Why: Patients will have access to one of UCSF's top transplant hepatologists at a convenient location. UCSF performs between 140-160 transplants annually and has performed more than 3,000 liver transplants as of February 2014. UCSF's annual volume consistently places the medical center among the top five liver transplant programs in the country.
