John Muir Health Receives Multiple Awards for Quality

Cardiac and Stroke Care

We are proud to announce that both John Muir Health hospitals have been recognized for providing premier cardiac and stroke care by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. John Muir Health was recognized for a commitment to implementing high standards of care for patients, ensuring that patients receive treatment that meets nationally accepted, evidence-based standards and recommendations.

These awards recognize John Muir Health’s care teams for following the latest scientific guidelines-based treatment for heart failure and stroke patients consistently over time.  In both cases, our cardiovascular care teams take time to educate patients on medication use, diet, exercise and managing their overall health.  The goal of these guidelines is to speed recovery and to reduce hospital admissions.

Both Concord Medical Center and Walnut Creek Medical Center earned the 2019 Get With The Guidelines® - Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. To achieve this recognition, our team reached an aggressive goal of treating patients with 85 percent or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association® for two consecutive calendar years. In addition, the Concord Medical Center demonstrated 75 percent compliance to four out of ten heart failure quality measures during the 12-month period.

Both Concord Medical Center and Walnut Creek Medical Center earned the 2019 Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. Beyond meeting the aggressive treatment goals, both sites have proven their ability to provide timely care that improves quality and outcomes which qualifies them for recognition on the Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll.
