Smiling Faces and Creatures of all Kinds

September was a month of celebrations at John Muir Health. We welcomed graduates of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at our annual NICU reunion. Then, some of the more unusual members of the pet therapy team.

John Muir Health has held an annual NICU Reunion in September since 1991. Graduates and their families are invited back to visit with the medical staff that provided their care and other families who have shared experiences. Because many NICU patients spend several days to months in the unit, strong bonds are formed and the reunion is a way to reconnect.

In honor of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, our Walnut Creek Medical Center again welcomed the wonderful therapy animals from Lyon Ranch of Sonoma. Our Rehabilitation Unit has used animal assisted therapy to benefit patients for more than 20 years.
