Clinical Research Center

John Muir Health is a part of the National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network.  Our cancer trials focus on early detection, prevention and treatment of cancers as well as symptom management.  Our Clinical Research Center has participated in over 1,000 clinical research trials.  These include federally funded trials as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry-sponsored studies. Our experience includes Phase II, III, and IV drug and device clinical research studies for various conditions.

Each of our Research Medical Directors have over 20 years of clinical research experience and our staff are certified through one of two organizations: the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA).  Most of our research coordinators are Registered Nurses who work closely with our Investigators.  We aim to provide rapid enrollment, high data integrity, and compassionate care to our research participants.

Our Cancer Researchers have extensive experience in oncology, including blood (lymphoma, leukemia), brain, breast, colorectal, esophageal, gynecological, lung, and prostate cancers. This team is comprised of surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists.

In the Endocrinology and Diabetes space, we have completed over 500 clinical trials, with focus on Phase II, III, and IV trials. We have extensive experience in medical device studies for invasive and noninvasive glucose monitors, glucose sensors, HbA1c testing and lipid measuring devices. Our research coordinators are Registered Nurses and Certified Diabetes Educators with significant experience in Diabetes Mellitus and its complications, cardiovascular outcome trials, as well as obesity and other metabolic disorders.

We also offer an active Cardiovascular Research Program and provide treatment and prevention options for a variety of conditions such as hypertension, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. Our cardiovascular trials consist of both device and pharmaceutical trials.

Other areas of research interest include neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology, radiology, and nursing research studies.
