For parents in Contra Costa County and surrounding communities, having a child with a complex medical condition used to mean spending lots of time traveling all over the Bay Area for visits with children’s specialists.
Through our collaboration with Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, we provide our community’s children with consultation and expert care for a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injuries, for children of all ages.
In addition to your pediatric orthopedist, your child’s care team may also include nurses and other healthcare providers—all who have advanced training in specifically treating children and teens.
Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
I aim to treat each child I see as if they were one of my own. I have two sons, and have been through multiple medical issues with each of them. As a physician, I feel it is important to view each encounter from the perspective of the parent and child. I ask myself, "What would I recommend for my own son?" That allows me to provide the best care possible.
In pediatric orthopedics we are fortunate in that we get to see the results of our work in real time. When I treat a child with a severe fracture or spinal deformity, and six months later they are back to a normal life, I am thrilled to have played a part in their recovery. It is very fulfilling to see the results of improved quality of life and function in the children we treat — nothing compares to that.
Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon
I try very hard to tailor my care to each patient I see. Each child has a unique story, background, and family. I hope to provide care that's respectful of this diversity. I highly value the trust that patients and their families place in me.
I value, respect, and support all athletes' desire to play their sport, but I value their long-term health the most. I strive to help patients make choices that allow them to compete safely without jeopardizing their future health and lives.
Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon
I always try to make a personal connection with patients and families before anything else. I think establishing trust is extremely important, especially in scenarios that may be traumatic to patients and parents. Getting to know my patients and their goals is just as important to me as the technical aspects of surgery, and I try to work together with patients and families to establish a plan that is best suited to each individual patient. Seeing patients progress from injury to recovery is incredibly rewarding. I am proud to be able to help children and adolescents get back to the activities and sports that they love.
