Rapid diagnosis and treatment provide the best chance of surviving a traumatic injury. Critically injured patients are brought by helicopter or ambulance directly from the injury site to our Trauma Center.
The Walnut Creek Medical Center is one of the few Bay Area hospitals with a heliport. This allows patients to be taken to the trauma center by helicopter from anywhere in the Bay Area in just minutes.
The center has served as Contra Costa County’s only trauma center. County guidelines dictate which patients are taken to the center, which has continued to be re-verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a Level II Trauma Center since 1986.
