John Muir Medical Center, Concord is a 267-licensed bed hospital that serves Contra Costa and southern Solano counties. The medical center has long been recognized as a preeminent center for cancer care and cardiac care, including open heart surgery and interventional cardiology. Other areas of specialty include general surgery, orthopedic, and neurology programs. Entrance and Parking
The main entrance to the John Muir Medical Center, Concord off of Almond Avenue. Our parking lot has 82 patient and visitor parking spaces. Additional parking for patients and visitors will continue to be available behind the medical center adjacent to the Emergency Department entrance, which can be accessed along Park Ave.
Along with increased signage, an attendant is available at the main entrance parking lot to direct traffic and provide a map, if needed, to the alternate patient and visitor parking area.
Most Nursing Units
11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Visitors are welcome at any time, provided the patient is rested.
Critical Care Units (Intensive Care and Cardiac Care)
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 4:30 to 11:00 PM
Visits are restricted to immediate adult family members.
Before each visit, please use the in-house phones located by the waiting room.
Additional Information About Visiting
When allowed, children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times. Children must be healthy and have current immunizations for contagious diseases.
Please protect our patients. Do not visit if:
- You don't feel well.
- You have a fever or the flu.
- You have a cold or a sore throat.
- You have recently been exposed to and have never had chicken pox, measles or mumps.
If you need further assistance, do not hesitate to ask the Floor Nurse or a Volunteer.

Provides coordination of care throughout the entire course of treatment with case managers who assess, plan, facilitate, and advocate for patients.
HIV AIDS Program
Offers education, support, and a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and dietitians to provide expert care to patients with HIV/AIDS.
Volunteers on staff direct patients to the hospital room, facility, or department they are searching for.
Lung Health Services (Pulmonary Rehabilitation)
Offers comprehensive care and support to patients with chronic lung disease so they can achieve their highest level of function and independence.
Provides patients with rehabilitation services to keep lymphedema, a chronic condition in which excess fluid accumulates in the body, under control.
Provides patients and former patients of John Muir Health access to and copies of medical records.
The use of radioactive materials in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of disease.
Offers nutrition counseling to patients requiring specialized diets in the treatment of a wide range of health conditions, from pregnancy to cardiovascular disease.
Outpatient Rehabilitation Services
Provides rehabiliation specialists and a complete range of services to help patients recover from illness or injury so they can reach their highest level of function.
Information to assist patients in finding services, preparing for a hospital stay, requesting medical records, or getting help financially to pay for services.
Offers pharmaceutical care from efficient delivery of medicine to straightforward, professional consultations, always taking the steps necessary to safeguard the health of patients.
Provides medical care and services to patients with respiratory conditions from pulmonary disease to asthma, including exercise programs, support groups, and rehabilitation.
Provides medical social workers to advocate for patients, help plan care, and connect patients to resources as they transition from one care setting to another.
Provides state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient surgical services in Walnut Creek and Concord, inlcuding minimally invasive, robotic, weight loss, and cardiac surgeries.
