Our Concord Medical Center is a 244-licensed bed hospital that serves Contra Costa and southern Solano counties. The medical center has long been recognized as a preeminent center for cancer care and cardiac care, including open heart surgery and interventional cardiology. Other areas of specialty include general surgery, orthopedic, and neurology programs. The Concord Medical Center is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), a national surveyor of quality patient care.

Visitor Information
Entrance and Parking

The main entrance to the John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center, off of Almond Avenue. Our parking lot has 82 patient and visitor parking spaces. Additional parking for patients and visitors will continue to be available behind the medical center adjacent to the Emergency Department entrance, which can be accessed along Park Ave.

Along with increased signage, an attendant is available at the main entrance parking lot to direct traffic and provide a map, if needed, to the alternate patient and visitor parking area.

Visiting Hours
  • Visiting hours are between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Unit/department staff will orient patients/visitors to their specific guidelines, including visiting hours if they differ from the 9 a.m.-9 p.m. hours.
  • Visitors must check with the Clinical Supervisor/Charge Nurse before entering any room marked “No Visitors” or “Isolation.”
Visitor Check-In and Badging
  • Everyone requesting visitation must check-in at the entry desks, present a government issued identification card, and if visitation is granted, receive a John Muir Health visitation badge.
  • All visitors must wear the visitor badge at all times. If visitors lose their badge during their visitation, visitors are requested to obtain another badge from the proper entrance providing visitor badges.
  • All visitors must visit on the unit/area as designated by the visitation badge.
Visitor Responsibilities
  • Refrain from visiting when sick (no infection, fever, cold, diarrhea, vomiting).
  • Refrain from inappropriate, loud, or threatening behavior.
  • Refrain from visiting while intoxicated or under the influence.
  • Wear appropriate attire (shoes, shirt).
  • Respect the treatment/care plan (do not provide care, treatment, food, fluids without physician order).
  • Refrain from verbal or physical abuse, aggression or violence.
  • Refrain from bringing Prohibited Items into the facility. To ensure safety, the following items are not permitted:
    • Weapons of any kind (i.e., firearms, knives, Tasers, pepper spray, etc.)
    • Metal of any kind (i.e., razors, paper clips, staples, spiral notebooks, metal cans, safety pins, three-ring binders, nail files/clippers, metal hair clips, etc.)
    • Tobacco or vaping products of any kind (i.e., e-cigs).
    • Non-approved food or beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) or any perishable items from outside our hospital
    • Drug paraphernalia (i.e., pipes, bongs, etc.)
    • Non-hospital prescribed medications including, but not limited to, marijuana products
    • Drugs (those not ordered by a licensed physician)
    • Fire ignition sources (i.e., lighters, matches, etc.)
    • Flammable items
    • Bottles of any type
Violations may result in the following:
  • Revocation of visiting privileges.
  • Execution of a Behavior Agreement in consultation with Patient Engagement.
  • Law Enforcement involvement.
Visitation by Minors/Infants
  • Visitation by Minors/Infants must conform to the following:
    • Ensure that the child does not exhibit any outward signs of illness.
    • Ensure that an adult (other than the patient) is in attendance with the child at all times. Children may not remain unattended in the Medical Center.
    • Ensure that the child behaves at all times in such a way as to promote a safe and healing environment.
    • Bring the child directly to the patient’s room and not allow them to remain in waiting rooms.
    • Minor/Infant visitation may be discouraged if the patient’s condition and/or treatment may cause emotional distress.
