Support Services

The effects of a traumatic injury extend well beyond the initial physical damage. John Muir Health provides several services to help trauma patients and their families cope with mental, emotional, and financial challenges.

Social Services and Pastoral Care

Members of John Muir Health’s Social Services and Pastoral Care departments are on hand for trauma patients and their families. A social worker can serve as a link between the family and hospital services, and provide referrals to community service and financial support. To speak with a social worker or chaplain, please contact your nurse.

Financial Services

Financial counselors are available to help patients and families with financial questions and concerns. To reach a financial counselor, call (925) 947-3336. (Note that some health plans, including Kaiser Permanente, require that patients transfer to another facility when medically stable. A case manager will help with this when needed.)
