Visiting a Family Member

Visiting guidelines for trauma patients at John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek are designed to ensure that all patients, including your loved one, get the rest and privacy they need.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines

For adult medical and surgical patients and pediatric patients, please follow these visiting guidelines:

  • Visiting hours are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  • Parents may visit their children in the pediatric unit at any time
  • No more than two people may visit the patient at any time; a nurse may further limit visitors based on patient condition
  • Visitors must check with the nurse in charge before entering any room marked “no visitors” or “isolation”
  • Visiting may be halted if hospital staff or police officials deem that the health or safety of a patient, employee, or others may be at risk
  • People who feel ill or have symptoms of illness should not visit
  • Visitors should leave the hospital at the end of visiting hours
  • No visitors are allowed in operating rooms
Guidelines for Critical Care

For patients with traumatic injury or brain injury, additional visiting guidelines apply:

  • Visiting hours are from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM except 3:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 8:00 PM
  • Please limit each visit to 15 minutes
  • Visitors must call each time they wish to enter the unit
  • Visitors should wait in the critical care waiting room, not in hallways
  • Cell phones may be used in the waiting room or in the main hallway of the second floor
