About The Garret Thrift Shop
The Garret Thrift Shop is a fundraising initiative of the John Muir Health Walnut Creek Medical Center Auxiliary, a dedicated volunteer organization supporting John Muir Health’s Walnut Creek Medical Center.
For decades, the Auxiliary has contributed more than $20 million toward patient care, advanced medical equipment, facility enhancements, and essential hospital programs. Proceeds from The Garret Thrift Shop play an important role in continuing this impact, helping to enhance the patient experience and support vital healthcare services for the community.
The shop offers a curated selection of donated items, including clothing, jewelry, books, furniture, antiques, collectibles, and more. Every purchase and donation directly supports the Auxiliary’s ongoing work and mission.
How You Can Help
Volunteering at The Garret is a hands-on way to give back. From sorting and pricing donations to merchandising and assisting customers, volunteers help keep the shop running while making a meaningful difference in the community.
Volunteers play a key role in the day-to-day operations of The Garret Thrift Shop. Opportunities include collecting and organizing donations, sorting and pricing items, creating displays, and assisting customers at the register.
The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteer shifts are typically 3 hours between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the greatest need in the afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. High school students are welcome to apply.
