When to seek help

We all can feel sad and unhappy from time to time. Sometimes we are sad because of an unexpected stressful situation. Other times we just feel unhappy for no reason. These feelings usually come and go and we don't really think much about them. At times, though, these feelings stick with us for longer and just will not go away on their own. What's more, they can start affecting our emotions and behavior. Anxiety and depression are just two examples of the most common mental health conditions that can affect our ability to handle our daily responsibilities at home and at work.

If you or a loved one are struggling with unhappy or difficult feelings, please call us. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners are trained to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and stabilize mental health conditions under the supervision of a psychiatrist. Mental conditions like anxiety and depression are often easily treated in the early stages with medication. It is always better to act now, rather than wait for conditions to get more complicated. Most people that complete treatment feel better physically and emotionally. Their symptoms go away and they feel happier and more in control of their life. Some people find that individual therapy can be helpful in adiition to medication. In those circumstances, you can contact your insurance to get a referral for a therapist who is contracted with your health plan.

Appointments

We are contracted with most health insurance plans, including Medicare and self-pay. We are unable to accept Medicaid/Cal or CCHP at this time. Please check with your health insurance plan provider for specific coverage details of your plan.

Emergencies

We do not provide emergency psychiatric evaluations. If you, or a loved one, is at risk of harming oneself or others, please call 911, so that everyone can remain safe and psychiatric care can be provided in an emergency psychiatric setting.

If you or someone you know require more immediate services, but are not at risk of hurting yourselves or others, we offer an intensive day treatment program for adults or adolescents, Monday through Friday at the Behavioral Health Center in Concord. This program includes group therapy, individual sessions, psychiatric evaluation and visits by a psychiatrist. Most people attend the program for several weeks.

If you want to receive more information about one of these intensive day treatment programs, please call us at (925) 674-4140.
