Intensive Treatment In A Compassionate Setting

Adolescence is often a time of great change and uncertainty. If your son or daughter is also experiencing serious emotional, social or psychiatric issues, then short-term hospitalization may be a necessary step to getting your teen on the right path to a healthier future. Our adolescent inpatient program focuses on stabilizing teens aged 13 to 18 in crisis situations. The average stay in our short-term program is about five days, but longer stays are available depending on the unique needs of your teen.

What To Expect During Treatment

Once admitted, we will do a full medical evaluation, as well as provide a psychiatric diagnosis and treatment plan for your teen. Your teen will receive treatment in a 24-hour inpatient hospital setting, until ready for discharge into an outpatient program for ongoing treatment. Our behavioral health inpatient facility is divided into two units, separated by gender, to discourage incidents and inappropriate behavior.

We offer a highly structured activity schedule, which includes both individual therapy sessions, as well as developmentally appropriate group sessions. During the group sessions, teens are encouraged to express their feelings, as well as identify and work on their problem behaviors in a supportive environment.

During their stay, we encourage teens to conduct themselves in ways that promote growth and understanding. All interactions are regarded as opportunities to practice effective, appropriate behavior. We also believe that discipline and setting limits are just as important as acceptance and affirmation. Our treatment team enforces rules, but also rewards success, gives support, and recognizes teens for their progress.

Treatment Team

Our multi-disciplinary treatment team includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, mental health counselors, social workers, expressive art therapists, and more. Additionally, pediatric specialists from a full range of medical subspecialties, including neurology, are available for consultations, as needed.

You and the rest of your family are also an integral part of your teen’s healing team, and we highly encourage your active participation in your teen’s treatment. A successful return to home and community life requires close collaboration with all the key individuals in your teen's life.
